Jonesboro Unit re-opens on Monday, February 7
The Boys & Girls Clubs of North Louisiana is excited to re-open its Jonesboro Unit to in-person programming, starting Monday, February 7, 2021.
Since COVID-19 shut down Jackson Parish schools on March 13, 2020, our staff has offered virtual programming to our members and remained connected through wellness checks.
The Jonesboro Unit – also referred to as the McDonald Unit – received the 21st Century Grant in 2019 and has been able to bring growth and prosperity to the students in the Jackson Parish area.
The grant allowed us to hire certified teachers that helped area youth through virtual classrooms provided during COVID and will continue their commitment to teach on subjects like science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
Despite the limits on in-person programming, our members still showed improvements in the classroom thanks in part to the virtual instruction they received through the Boys & Girls Club.
As much success as we have had in the past year, we cannot wait to re-open our doors at 3 p.m. and welcome our members back face-to-face. This is truly a day we have long awaited for!
