The Boys & Girls Clubs of North Louisiana recently received a grant from The Thomas H. And Mayme P. Scott Foundation, Inc. that will assist in providing everyday necessities to our members through our afterschool and summer programming in the Northeast Region.

The grant will help sustain current operations and enhance programming that the Boys & Girls Club can offer to its members as we come out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This past school year has been a challenge for educators, parents, and especially children. After being out of school for six months and out of a traditional setting, the new school year came with a lot of changes and inconsistencies, and as a result, caused children to not adapt well.

It is crucial for the Boys & Girls Club to provide activities to support the educational and wellness needs of the children as we start our summer day camp.

These funds will help us prepare our members for school in the fall as we put an emphasis on learning loss and education retention.

The Scott Foundation originated in 1961 by its founder Tom Scott and his wife Mayme. The Scotts started Scott Truck and Tractor in 1939. The continued success of the business is based around Mr. Scott’s motto that “People are important.”

The Scott Foundation mirrors this same motto by continuously supporting numerous causes, including youth development.

The Scott legacy will continue through the next generation because of their generosity.
